The Indian business sector is very interested in becoming more involved in the Western Balkans, especially in Montenegro, which is a very attractive investment destination. The strategic position of Montenegro could be used for receipt of goods from India through the Port of Bar and their transit towards the Belgrade – Budapest line, it was said on 26th February 2015 at a meeting of representatives of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and the company “Kaizen Partners” from India.
It is an investment and bank company that is engaged in providing consulting and advisory services. The main offices are in India, The United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong as well as in Montenegro. They do business with clients in the areas of trade, infrastructure, textiles, agriculture, tourism, and real estate.
The Indian business community does not have enough information about Montenegro, it was said at the meeting. Therefore, the possibilities for the development of intensive cooperation between two states and creating mechanisms for better promotion of the potentials of Montenegro in the Indian business community were discussed.
The Vice President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro Stanko Zlokovic expressed interest in intensive cooperation of the Montenegrin economy with India, especially in the area of attracting direct foreign investments. He emphasized the traditionally good relations between Montenegro and Russia, which the potential Indian investors could use to penetrate this market.
– Intensive growth of consumption of alcoholic drinks in India could be a chance for wines from “Plantaze” whose quality does not fall behind the wines known for its quality from Italy, France, New Zealand, South America that acquire reputation; while in terms of price they are competitive – Zloković has said.
Vivek Gupta from „Kaizen Partners” presented the results of his two-year experience at the Montenegrin market related to real estate investments, the creation of software solutions for banking operating systems, installing an optical cable.
He expressed readiness to engage in order to encourage the interest of potential investors from India.
– The cooperation between Montenegro and India has been limited with numerous obstacles – visa regime, the lack of diplomatic mission, geographic distance… Nevertheless, the Indian business sector is very interested to become more involved in the region, especially in Montenegro, which is a very attractive investment destination – Gupta has said.
It has been announced that in the following period the focus will be on designing a permanent presentation of the Montenegrin economy in India.
